Description

As our backend QA Tech Lead your primary emphasis will focus on coordinating quality assurance efforts across multiple business units. Establishing standards, methodologies, and approaches for automated testing, while driving their implementation through collaboration and guidance. The objective is to ensure consistent, high-quality software delivery in a web microservices environment by fostering alignment and best practices organisation-wide.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish and promote standards for the design, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive automated tests.
  • Coordinate with teams across business units to ensure efficient testing processes and methodologies that support high-quality software products.
  • Guide the development of automated tests and frameworks to address functional, regression, performance, load testing, and other quality aspects, driving their adoption across multiple units to maintain a stable and scalable application ecosystem.
  • Oversee the coordination of testing infrastructure to support automated testing, ensuring observability, rapid feedback, and the utilisation of industry-standard tools and frameworks through cross-unit collaboration.
  • Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders from various business units to understand product requirements, design unified test strategies, and provide expert guidance on quality standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate the rollout of test strategies across business units, including the development of test plans, facilitation of exploratory testing, and establishment of standardised metrics for consistent evaluation.
  • Compile and synthesise test results from multiple sources into comprehensive reports and dashboards, communicate insights to development teams and stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyse aggregated test results from across business units, identify opportunities for improvement, and partner with relevant teams to resolve issues and enhance overall test coverage.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members organisation-wide, fostering a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development in automated quality assurance without direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience as a QA Lead or in a similar coordination-focused role, with at least 5 years in quality assurance or software testing, ideally within web microservices environments.
  • Strong expertise in testing and analysing modern tech stacks, emphasizing web-based architectures and the ability to coordinate efforts across diverse teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality standards, agile methodologies, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC), particularly as they apply to quality assurance and testing coordination in web microservices settings.
  • Proficiency in a programming language (e.g., TypeScript, Python), with the capability to develop and maintain automated test suites, perform test data manipulation, and guide others in these practices.
  • Familiarity with modern software tools and frameworks used in web microservices development, facilitating effective coordination and integration of testing initiatives within the organisation's technology ecosystem.
  • Advanced investigative and troubleshooting skills, combined with the ability to distill and communicate technical issues, bugs, and quality metrics to cross-functional audiences.
  • Exceptional mentoring and communication abilities, demonstrated through successful collaboration with developers, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders across multiple business units to promote a unified culture of quality assurance excellence.
